Cottages on PEI?
I'm from PEI, but have never had to stay anywhere other than with family. Next summer we'll be going home with our new baby, and we'd like to have our own place and be able to visit our families from there. Does anyone have a recommendation for a cottage/housekeeping type accommodation? There's just me, hubby and a baby, so it doesn't need to be large. I've got the visitor's guide, but I always like personal recommendations too. Thanks!

Wow! Do we have a recommendation for you! Now, if I can only remember the name.....I found the cottages on the net and they're up at the northern tip of PEI. A couple built several cottages to rent out. They were spotless. Ours had a jacuzzi tub and fully equipped otherwise. It was a beautiful spot with all the blueberries we could eat growing at our door. Bear with me, the name will come...I cheated. I went to the tourism PEI webiste and found it. The name is Driftwood Country Cottages. The website is a real treat even if you never get there...www.driftwood.pe.ca. They're in Tignish which is a ways out but a beatiful trip as far as we were concerned. We will definitely be back some day. It was our first trip to the east coast, and it made us proud to be Canadians - what a slice of heaven! Good luck!

Wow, those cottages look amazing. We're planning to go to PEI and Nova Scotia in September - first trip east of Quebec City. (My family live on the west coast, so we usually head that way.) There's just 2 of us and we're not planning to spend a week in any one spot, otherwise I might be interested. My sister has spent a lot of time in Nova Scotia and has several recommendations for B&B's there that we'll follow up on, but does anyone out there have any recommendations for PEI?

We recently stayed at place called Shaw's Hotel on Brackley Beach near Charlottetown PEI. We looooved it. It's a smallish family owned inn and cottages with great amenities and close to a great beach. It's a little pricey but we felt it was worth it. Here's the website: http://www.peisland.com/shaws/

Our family cottage on PEI is available for rent when we can't be there. It's on the north shore directly on the water. Very convienient and private location. Since this is not a business I don't have a web site set up but I can e-mail photographs and more details.

Thanks all, for the help. I've booked us into Malpeque Cove Cottages for 2 weeks in May, so I'll post when we get back and let you know how it is. Great rates in May - half price makes it $350 per week for 2 bedrooms. For more info look at www.malpeque.ca. My brother, who lives on the Island, says these places look great from the outside, so hopefully that extends inside too!
