Christmas in Montreal

My family and I are spending Christmas in Montreal all this year (five people in total the youngest being 18 yrs old). We are looking for somewhere special to eat a meal on Christmas Day, preferably lunch but are open to suggestions? Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks Heaps

A couple of years ago we went to the Casino for a holiday meal at their buffet. It is a good one with lots of choices including seafood. The outside of the casino had festive decorations to get you in the mood of the holidays too.

It might work well with a mixed group and different tastes. The casino was nicer than I thought it would be. If you plan to do this be sure to get reservations.

Enjoy-la!

Highly recommend brunch (11-3, to my recollection) at Thursdays on Crescent (reservations essential, of course). Extensive menu (so you're not restricted to breakfast items). Not a buffet, but an excellent deal (huge bread basket, plate of fruit, desserts included). It's a huge and gorgeous room, too.

In the event they're not doing brunch on Christmas Day, the lunch menu is fabulous as well.

Old Montreal restaurants would be a nice atmosphere on Christmas day, more on the pricy side however.

Restaurants on Crescent and St. Laurent are popular spots.

this sight is a bit overwhelming but kind of new and might get you in the mood (very creative) www.madeinmtl.com

Be careful about Crescent though - check if places are open. I work at Sir Winston Churchill's and we are closed Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day until 8pm. So just check in advance.
