calgary to jasper in 5 days
Hi, we are looking for vacation ideas in the Alberta province. wanting to see Banff, Lake Louise, the Icefields, and Jasper in 5 days. I know it is a lot but, any ideas would be appreciated.
We are used to driving a lot. we considered flying into Edmonton and flying out of Calgary, but we could just fly to Calgary and out of there.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

I'd go in and out of Calgary. The mountain parks are a lot to cover in 5 days, but you would get to take in the unbelievable views on the Icefields Parkway from both directions. Calgary is a lot closer to the mtns than Edmonton, so you would save that stretch of driving, but see the "real good stuff" twice! Different times of day, different light, different angles, make for a better photos, too.
What do you like to do? Entire guidebooks are written about that area, and your preferences are needed to narrow it all down.

Here's a suggestion
With 5 days, arrive in Calgary, drive to Banff to eat and sightsee, spend 2 nights in Banff or Lake Louise. Near Lake Louise, walk around Lake Louise, hike a bit, drive to Moraine Lake. Spend a day driving up the Icefields Parkway, spend the night in Jasper. Next day walk Maligne Canyon, drive out to Maligne Lake, do Angel Glacier(if opened). Spend another night in Jasper. Drive back down the Parkway--it's beautiful and worth driving back. Spend the night in Banff.

Thanks! we added a day and decided to fly in to Edmonton late and straight to Jasper next day. Have reservations at Icefields and then a place in Banff for 4 days. Will fly out of Calgary on day 8. We are excited to get to go and am sure we will see lots of stuff. Will take in all the advice above.
