Quebec City -- low or high season
I am planning a two-day family vacation to Quebec City in October any days between the 10th - 20th. I have found that hotel rates are 30% lower after October 18th (low season.) There must be some tradeoffs. Should I visit earlier and later?

The rates drop with the leaves (right after fall foliage season). Actually, the 10th will probably be near the end of beautiful foliage (you never know, though). If it's worth the extra for the possibiity of seeing the fall colors, go ahead and book. Otherwise, go after the 18th. The weather is so variable that time of year, it probably won't make much difference.

There's not much of a difference in weather if you go the first week of October or the third week. Go later on in the month and with the money you save treat your family to a stay at the Chateau Frontenac. Its location is incredible. Overlooking the river, in the heart of the "Old City". Very charming and romantic. <BR>

We were in Quebec City last week with our 1 year old. We loved it. I am letting people know about Cafe due Monde which is a recommended restaurant in Fodor's and AAA guides. Stay away. it is extremely overpriced and not child friendly. The Italian Bistro Portofino's is wonderful...Have a great time...
