Hello,
We will be coming to Banff the last week of July. I was wondering the approximate tempature. Also a recommendation on a nice place to stay with great views. Also places to eat that are good. Anything you can add to make this a great trip would be wonderful. Thank you.

My husband and I stayed at the Rimrock for our honeymoon back in October and we believe that they have the best views in Banff as the hotel is on the side of a mountain. The hotel is probably the highest in the town. We also stayed at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge; however, the views were best at the Rimrock.
We ate at many places and every meal we had was great. We tried to order meals that were different and special to the region, such as caribou, wild boar, buffalo, etc. Restaurants include: Wild Bill's Saloon, The Keg, Melissa's. We do remember one place that we would not recommend and that was "Magpie & Stump".

Banff's average day time high in July is 73 deg F and it's average night time low during that month is 43 deg F. However, the temperature has gone as high as 94 deg F and as low as 28 deg F.
The weather in the mountains sometimes changes fast. I have experienced all four seasons in an hour.
To cope with the variables, you need to bring layers, as explained on this page of my website:
http://groups.msn.com/CalgaryandCana...urwebpage.msnw
Recommended things to see:
In or near Banff - Johnston Canyon and Sulphur Mountain Gondola
At the western end of Banff National Park - Moraine Lake and Lake Louise
In Yoho National Park, to the west of Lake Louise - Takakkaw Falls and Emerald Lake
On the Icefields Parkway, the road that leads to Jasper - Peyto Lake, Columbia Icefields, Sunwapta Falls (that perhaps is as much as you can manage in a day, before you have to turn around and drive back to Banff)

You absolutely have to go up the Banff Gondola-as long as you are okay with heights! It will take you up Sulphur Mountain to about 7000ft. above sea level. Unbelieveable mountain views from above and well worth the cost. If you only see 1 thing this should be it.
