Are VRBOs legal in Toronto?

i just want to check that VRBOs/airbnb--full apartment or house is legal in Toronto before I book a place. We really enjoy having the extra space and the ability to eat in sometimes. But I know these are not legal in all cities. Thanks for the info!

If you read the paragraph starting with “However...” you’ll see the law is not yet in force as it’s being appealed. One thing to make sure of, though, is if you rent a condo make sure the building rules permit rentals. Condo managers are aggressively monitoring people arriving with suitcases and in some cases preventing them from accessing the accommodation they had rented.

From what I have found--in 2018 the city said they were not Legal but they are not illegal either. The final decision is to be made this August 2019. So I have booked a hotel and a VRBO--either one of which I can cancel. So I am covered and will watch for the city's ruling/decision. (and I didn't rent a condo, so should be fine there)

The hearing is this August but that body usually takes a long time to render a decision. But good to have both sides covered!
