Any beaches in Niagara Falls?
Leaving for Niagara Falls (Canada) on Wednesday and wondering about beaches in the area. The weather forecast is HOT and our hotel has an indoor pool. Would sure love some fun in the sun and water so any info will help!!! Thanks!

There are beaches in the area on Lake Erie near the city of Fort Erie, which is up the Niagara River from Niagara Falls.
But that seems to me to be a waste of time if you have not been to Niagara Falls and Niagara on the lake before.
Take the Maid of the Mist trip to the bottom of the falls, but don't put on the raincoat. That'll cool you off.

Crystal Beach (a/k/a Bay Beach) in Crystal Beach....just north of Ft. Erie and west of Niagara Falls. I live in Buffalo and frequent the beach all summer.
I'd suggest taking the QEW from Niagara to Ft. Erie, but I don't know what exit to recommend. Therefore, I'll give you the picturesque drive....take the Niagara Parkway to Ft. Erie. Go to Garrison Road (it begins near the Peace Bridge, right across from Buffalo). Drive on Garrison Rd. about three miles until you see the sign for Crystal Beach (you'll turn left). When you get to the end of that road, turn right and drive about 1/4 mile until you see the parking lot.
The water is very calm, very warm, and very shallow....lots of people and seagulls. It's an old-fashioned beach atmosphere with older beach homes and an antiquated bath house. There is a concession stand with the best fries in the world and loganberry pop to wash them down with. Have fun!

I haven't been to Crystal Beach in years, but if memory serves, it's exactly as described by BuffaloGirl. However, there is one slight mis-statement: the best fries in the world are actually at the Vesuvius Bay pub on Saltspring Island in BC. The ones at Crystal Beach are second best. Sorry.

Oh great you guys! Now I just have to make time to get to Crystal Beach this summer. The thought of tasting the best fries in the world ( or second best) is just too much to resist!! I didn't know about this, so thanks for the info!!! Who can resist good fries??
