Amtrak; Seattle to Vancouver BC
Planning to take grandson (age 10) to Vancouver BC for 2-3 days..Rather than drive , thought the train would be an adventure.
Looked at web site for Amtrak :
I need to know how far from station in Vancouver to "downtown----
could we board the train in Edmonds? ---
Appreciate any info from those who have made the trip.

That's a nice train trip, and very affordable. If you can, sit on the left - at one point you can see eagles and seagulls together along the shore. Not sure about all the stops, check the Amtrak site. And once you get there, while it is technically not too far from downtown, it's still quite a walk. I'd recommend an Uber.

The Amtrak train stops at Pacific Central Station in Vancouver, kind of on a bleak intersection, but it’s only a 5 minute taxi ride across a busy overpass into downtown Vancouver. And you certainly don’t need a car in Vancouver, so I’d encourage you to go car free. This is totally doable.
Once at the station, you can take a taxi (or Uber) to your hotel and it probably wouldn’t cost much, or you can walk outside the train station and literally right there is the Main Street Science World Skytrain station and use your credit card to tap through the admission gates (kids under 12 ride free - bring them through the gate with you) and ride the Skytrain westbound 1, 2,3, or 4 stops (getting off at Stadium Chinatown, Granville, Burrard, or Waterfront) - all are downtown. The Skytrain comes every 2 minutes and you’ll be downtown less than 10 minutes for less than $4 Canadian.
Or if you prefer a walk and you don’t have much luggage, you can quickly walk 5 minutes across the street to Science World and walk along the seawall - to either Granville Island (a major attraction) or into Yaletown, a high end district downtown) in about a half hour from Pacific Central Station.
You have options. None are bad.
