Google's 3D maps - have you seen the new program?
I've just noticed Google's 3D maps. It's fantastic. Have you tried it? Maybe it's not new, but I've not seen it until today.
Just use the "Get Directions" as normal, and hit the "3D" option. The route rolls out beneath you as if you're flying across it, with a little marker tracing the road as you progress.
You can stop it, go back to 2D, identify towns & landmarks etc. Great addition to what I thought was a good program as it was.
Especially good to illustrate the vastness & terrain of Australia. Useful tool for those planning to drive Melbourne - Cairns in a day.
I just did the run from Alice Springs to Uluru.
Pop in your next/last trip & have some fun.

Maybe you have a different version or something? I put in an address along the top (in Google maps) then click on Get Directions, key in another address, click on Get Directions again and the little 3D should appear on the right, about half way down the screen, opposite where it says "Driving Directions to...".
Try that and see how you go, it's amazing to see.
