Lee Ann, baseball is definitely played in Australia, so I'm sure we could field a team, but it doesn't have a high public profile. Australia being Australia, though, perhaps that would change if we thought we had a chance of winning.
As a matter of interest my expat daughters tell me that the World Cup is exciting huge interest in their city of Dalian, NE China. Especially at the local bar, where they catered for their Chinese, Korean and other supporters with Vegemite sandwiches and lamingtons ("I know, sounds lame, but they went down very well..."

Well what can I say !!
If ever there was a tem that deserved to win it was you Aussies !!
Brazil were made to look very average, if only Harry K had got that sitter in I think the result would have been in Aussie favour.
It's really difficult when your play ing against the world champions and a bent referee.
Good luck against Croatia, a draw will do it.
COME ON YOU AUSSIES !!!!!

Sorry about the soccer outcome for the aussies but at least Ogilvey (sp?) won the US Open golf tournament. I'm always happy when Phil loses but doubly happy when a cute Aussie wins. If it can't be Adam Scott then Ogilvey will do!

Meanwhile, two Australian universities have beaten off strong competition in Bremen by German, British and US teams to win a world championship in which robot dogs play a World-Cup style football match. No, I'm not sure what the significance of this is either, but it's nice to see a win in something other than a sporting contest.

Kewell = useless!
Wide open goal - and he still can't make it.
But at least he got off without suspension for telling the German referee he was a ratbag! (or something simuilar!)
The referee, on teh other hand, is now being investigated.....

To the best of my recollection I've seen only one football game in person -had to accompany a Rugby-loving customer to the corporate box. Don't remember who was playing (the Canberra Raiders vs. somebody, I suppose) but the snacks were nice.

Mucky, the game's just about to start here. I stayed home with my son from church this morning since he's not feeling well, and he's watching soccer. Guess I'll be nice and not tell him the outcome...
