Which is a good city to visit

I am from Dubai and plan to visit New Zealand in Sept07. I have only 3 days for this program. My fundamental interest is to visit nude bars and other activities. Which is the right city to go? Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington? Do they have any bars and shows like Kingscross in Sydney?

Yes, Invercargill - the Sodom and Gomorrah of the South Pacific. Naked, dusky wahines reclining under swaying palms, tempting the intrepid, sex-starved explorer from the sands of Arabia (where a glimpse of stocking is truly shocking) with exotic cocktails and other forbidden delights ... the mind boggles. Nurse! Bring me my ticket, tout de suite! What am I doing in Canberra!

Neil,

have you considered writing a travel book?

If I didn't know better, I'd be swayed by your description!

Melodie, there must be scope for a travel book written by someone who's never seen the places he's describing. I mean, I've never seen Invercargill. Saw the turnoff to the left one day, but resisted the temptation. Please don't ruin my fantasies - I can dream, can't I?

"My fundamental interest is to visit nude bars and other activities."

qwelt, would you care to expand on what you mean by "other activities"?

Neil -

You haven't missed much by passing up a chance to see Invercargill. Hey, where's that Bali trip report? I've been lurking on the Asia forum, but haven't seen it yet.

Melnq8 - aaargh! I knew my sins would catch up with me! Tell you what, the rest of this week is out (have to visit inlaws and deliver eulogy at cousin's funeral outside Sydney) but I'll get stuck in to it next week.

Thanks for all the responses. Yes, I live in a very conservative, sex starved country where seeing a naked face itself tantamounts to peep show and godsent....Sighting a stocking is a chrsitmas gift, happens very rarely. Nevertheless, please give some useful tips...BTW, is it ok to wear traditional arabic dress ( male) while visiting NZ?

" other activities" include all normal activities available in Kings Cross in Sydeny or at Pigalle in Paris.

Pleade empathise and reply. Thanks for the help.

Gwelt,
methinks a little troll may lurk beneath those flowing robes of yours!
You're giving us all a chuckle anyway.

C'mon Neil - give us a break, what about 'The World's Fastest Indian', Bert Munro came from Invercargill so we have conjured up at least one famous person from there and a world record holder no less.

Neil -

I'm headed to NZ on Friday. I promise not to harass you about your much anticipated trip report until my return in early Sept, but then all bets are off...

qwelt -

I've been to Dubai many times and "sex starved" would not be how I'd describe it. As I recall, the hotels were overrun with nightclubs and Russian butterflies of the evening.

We'd visit Dubai for some R&R from Saudi and Kuwait, Dubai's ultra conservative and "sex starved" neighbors.

- Melnq8,

I live in a place called Al Ain which is about 45 minutes from Dubai which can be at best described as a great Arabian hinterland.. Yes, Dubai is full of activities and I have explored enough. I wish to see the butterflies in their homeland.

- Bokhara

To take a troll down my robe, I need not travel, I can do in Al Ain myself.

Folks, help me with some tips...

Gotcha.

Can't help you qwelt, I go to NZ to escape - to hike, visit wineries and soak up the natural beauty (as in NATURE) and enjoy that wonderful Kiwi hospitality.

Just for grins I googled Auckland strip clubs and pulled up some very interesting sites - suggest you do the same.

I've been to Invercargill twice. Who needs Bangkok when you have the "Gateway to the South"?

Um - I don't think Melnq8 was volunteering to take up pole dancing.

Ha! No pole dancing for me, but maybe I should consider it. I understand it's a great workout and has caught on as a legitimate exercise in the US. No classes in my part of the world though....bummer.
