Where can "Aussie Pass"? for Airfares be found?
Help please
I can't seem to find what I think is called the Aussie Pass. It's relatively inexpensive airfares for inside Australia, but only good if purchased outside of Oz.

Not seeing it on major websites. Quantas, Ansett or AirNZ.

Thanks Heaps.

Qantas has a "one world fare" that is available outside of Australia if you've got an international ticket for $115 each flight. You can change the flights and if you don't use them get all but 10% refunded. We were in Sydney this morning and Virgin Blue Airways in had billboards advertising Sydney to Brisbane Aus $55.oo ( i think one way, but thats only US$30. I'm sure they have a web site

hi sherrie-
you can get them through your travel agent, but you must buy them before you leave the u.s. (assuming you are from the u.s.) and must have an international ticket.
both qantas and air nz have passes. you need to buy a minimum of 2 legs. the fare is either $155 or $195 per leg depending on the zone where you are flying from and your destination. for example, we flew from sydney to ayers rock, then from alice springs to cairns. each leg was $195 each on qantas.
we then flew from cairns to christchurch (via auckland) then from queenstown to auckland on air nz. in this case, our travel agent suggested we purchase a regular ticket since it was cheaper to purchase the ticket instead of the air pass because of the good exchange rate.
good luck.

Thanks Tina and Lucy. It does seem that I'm better off purchasing within Oz instead of from the States. ie: Syd to Perth approx US $300. return. Pass would be about US $100 more. There are especially good deals on the East coast of Oz with the fare wars. Thanks again.
