Tahiti in February
I am getting married in February, and we are thinking of going to Tahiti for our honeymoon. I was hoping I could get some advice here, instead of just from our biased travel agent -

I know it will be hot there, but from what I understand, around 80-90 degrees F. Not too bad. Does anyone know about the mosquitoes? I am the tyoe that is typically getting bit anyway, but I don't want to spend my honeymoon as one big mosquito bite.

Also, we will probably be staying in overwater bures on Bora Bora or Moorea. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best hotels/resorts for this? THANKS SO MUCH!

Congrats on your upcoming marriage!

Overwater bungalows usually have no problem with mosquitos. There is usually always a wind over the water and mosquitos don't fly well in the wind. If you venture away from the beach you may well be bit, but your sleep should be fairly undisturbed by flying insects.

There are many wonderful places to stay on the islands you mentioned (though all are expensive). My wife and I stayed at the Pearl Beach on Bora Bora and really loved it. If you haven't already done so, you might want to take a look at my photos on Webshots.com.
The URL is:

http://community.webshots.com/user/lordbalfor

It does get pretty warm in French Polynesia that time of year, but as long as you have a breeze it is pretty comfortable. We were there in March and it was fantastic - the water is almost bathwater warm. You can expect some rain, but chances are it will be in the form of brief showers or at night. We are heading back to the South Pacific next year and are planning on going at the same time.

If you have any questions about the photos, you can feel free to e-mail me.

Enjoy your trip!

Ken

You should also visit the board on Tahiti Explorer. Lots of good info on this and other topics.
www.tahitiexplorer.com
