However; Sydney airport is so very easily reached from the city and surrounding suburbs, it seems a pity to stay in what is a pretty uninspiring location.

The airport Holiday Inn is perfectly ok, especially if you have any kind of Priority Club membership. They have a bus pickup from the airport and are also within easy walking distance of the Mascot station. I've used others (Hilton, Sheraton) in the past, but these weren't particularly good and are now rebranded as members of lesser chains (I forget which ones).

The airport is an easy trip from Sydney CBD, so staying there is another option.

We stayed at the airport Holiday Inn last August and I thought it was quite nice--much nicer than any Holiday Inn you'd find here. We had a spacious family room for four and paid less than US$150.

Unless you need to catch an obscenely early flight - stay away from the airport area - it's a bit grim / boring - either the city - or perhaps one of the beaches, say Coogee or Bondi or Brighton.

Ibis, close to the airport, advertised rooms at about $110/night. No idea how they are, though.

Thanks for all your help....I didn't realize the airport was so close to the
CBD. I would definately prefer to stay in the city so it looks like that's the call. Thanks again
