Swiss Grand Hotel at Bondi Beach

We have booked 17 nights at the Swiss Grand Hotel at Bondi Beach. However, there doesn't seem to be much information in guide books on this hotel. Has anyone stayed there within the past 6 months? How are the accommodations, service, etc? Any information will be appreciated.

Sharon,
I presume you have chosen to stay at Bondi for a reason? It is a suburb of Sydney but is quite a distance from the CBD -it will be fine if you intend hiring a car but otherwise you will have to rely on public transport ie. buses or taxis to get to the major points of interest, as it is not on a train line.
Otherwise it will be a nice place to stay, although 17 days is a long time in one place. There are many good restaurants, cafes etc. in the area, and the view of course is wonderful.
I have not stayed at the Hotel but hopefully someone else on the board will have.

Dear Prue:

Yes, we intentionally chose Bondi Beach, because we're visiting our children who have a flat there (unfortunately too small to accommodate us). On previous visits, we have stayed at the Rocks and enjoyed it. However, our last visit to Sydney was spent at Bondi Beach at Ravesi's with a side trip to the Southern Highlands and it was perfect! Unfortunately, Ravesi's is booked, so we wanted input on the Swiss Grand. A half-hour bus ride to get to town isn't a bad trade-off for being in such a lovely area.

Sharon,
I felt you must have a reason for choosing Bondi - and am sure under those circumstances you will enjoy it.
I hope the weather behaves for you and that someone chimes in that has actually stayed at the hotel.

Actually, Mike, we asked if anyone had STAYED at the Swiss Grand. We've seen the hotel and been in the lobby in the past, but are concerned with accommdations, service, cleanliness, etc. All publicity, reviews, etc. seem to have disappeared...perhaps the hotel is in trouble?
