Snow in New Zealand

Just a reminder that NZ's weather is unpredictable:

That link might not be working anymore. But these are working (so far):

I would say it's strange weather, but I'm used to these November and December surprises. Last week, we had true summer weather, sunny, blue skies. Today, a dozen flights were cancelled in and out of Queenstown. Affected highways have re-opened, but NZ Transport Agency has advised people headed into these affected areas to carry chains as more snow is expected (as much as 30 cm, or about a foot). There was a tornedo between Ashburton and Christchurch yesterday.

Never a dull moment in NZ! I have to remind myself of that whenever I fuss about our crazy Colorado weather. Compared to NZ it's pretty calm. Of course I'm still waiting for the auto body shop to schedule my hail damage repair from a storm in July.

Stay warm this summer Diamantina!

I know what you mean, Melnq8. Having moved to Dunedin from Northern California, I feel relatively lucky that we're dealing with heavy rain and not wildfires. Those must have been some big hailstones! Today, Otago is dealing with flooding: https://www.odt.co.nz/regions/floodi...ain-still-come

"Stay warm this summer Diamantina!" Thanks, I hope to get some of that. And I'll wish you a safe and warm-indoors Colorado winter! I'm generally not too bothered by the cold weather, as we get long breaks of sunny, warmer days in between. Yesterday, the air was a chilly 10C (50F) and it was windy, too, but I just carried on. I slipped on my waterproof pants, waterproof jacket, waterproof boots, waterproof gloves, dresssed my backpack with its waterproof cover and walked down to the open-air St. Clair Saltwater Pool for a swim.

St. Clair Pool on a nice day (it was not like this yesterday or today). Today, big tides are expected, and these will surely splash into the pool.

Beautiful!

<<And I'll wish you a safe and warm-indoors Colorado winter!>.

Cold weather doesn't necessarily keep me indoors, but I do tend to drink more lattes and hot chocolate. Headed to Europe for some winter hiking later this week.

The hailstorm I referred to above:

That's a lot of hail! I can see how your car was damaged.I thought we got some pretty good size hailstones the other day, but some of those Colorado ones look like they came straight from the ice cube dispenser.

If you're winter hiking, you're entitled to plenty of lattes and hot chocolate drinks. Have a wonderful time in Europe!

Yeah, we get some doosies, and we keep the auto body shops and roofers busy around here.

At least the hail storm I got caught in wasn't as bad as this one a bit further south a couple of weeks later:

Thank you! I need to get off the computer and start packing.
