romantic places

We are heading to Australia next week for our honeymoon and wanted to see if there were any romantic spots we should not miss- we are going to Melbourne, Great Ocean Road to Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, Sydney and then the Hayman Island Resort.

Thanks!

I don't know why xxx was so rude but I trust that you won't encounter too many like that ( hopefull he/she was not an australian anyway)
If you are still about and are reading these boards you will find the nice places and romantic setting all on your own I should think. Hayman will be the crowning glory of all that but follow the help others have given for those places you are going to and you should have a wonderful time.
All the best
Liz

If you are driving along the Great Ocean Road, make sure you visit Port Fairy - little old fishing port with lots of B&Bs and places to eat. You can wander along the wharf and through the town - it's one of our favourite places. I believe Goble's Mill (I think that is the right name) is a good place to stay overnight - right on the river. From Adelaide try to visit Hahndorf - old German town with lots of atmosphere and the Barossa Valley is a must, particularly if you like wine. Hayman Island will be wonderful. Best wishes for your wedding and your honeymoon.

In Melbourne, if weather is nice, catch a tram to St Kilda and have dinner (before dark) or lunch at either The Stoke House (ph: 03 9525 5555)or Donovans (ph:03 9534 8221) right on the beach. Ask for a window table. You'll need to book ahead, they're both very popular. Walk along the beach beforehand and out along the old St Kilda pier to watch the sun setting. Book a limo. to take you back to your hotel.

A champagne balloon flight either over Melbourne or the Yarra Valley (about 40 minutes east of Melbourne). You'll need to book ahead.

Is a tandem sky dive a romantic thing to do? Can be done at Barwon Heads (past Geelong).

Stay at Mietta's Queenscliff Hotel. A grand old Victorian (architecture) hotel with a wonderful restaurant in coastal Queenscliff.

Dinner at Chris's Beacon Point Restaurant at Skenes Creek near Apollo Bay.

I've just read in our Sunday paper that Cape Otway lighthouse (just past Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Rd) is a great spot for watching the sunset.

In Sydney their are so many places! Here are just a few suggestions:

Hire a yacht on Sydney Harbour to take you to a secluded spot, leave you with wine & food, and come back to get you the next day. Somewhere I've got the co.'s name saved and will find it if you'd like it.

A night Bridge Walk

Dinner at the Bathers Pavilion, or The Watermark at Balmoral, after a hot day swimming.

Dinner & stay the night at Jonah's, Whale Beach. Or go there for brunch.

Have I done any of these? I wish. Only one. Have a WONDERFUL honeymoon.
