Several years ago, we used Quicksilver <http://www.quicksilver-cruises.com/> and went on one of their catamarans. It was unbelievably smooth.
This is what their website says about seasickness:
"<b>Will I get seasick?
Hopefully not. The wavepiercer to the Outer Reef gives the smoothest possible ride in all sea conditions. Where there is motion whether a car, bus, plane or boat, some people will suffer from motion sickness. Specially packaged tablet and liquid form antihistamines are available onboard at $2.00 each. Currently, we offer ginger as a natural alternative motion sickness medication on a complimentary basis. To be effective, motion sickness medications should be taken immediately on boarding. </b>
One other option is to use some over-the-counter seasickness medication of your own, such as generic dramamine.

What a shame you're not here now with wind on reef at only 5-10km.
I think you said you'd be in Cairns area in March? Its a quiet month, you should not need to pre-book reef trips, just wait until you see what weather is doing. If it makes you feel more secure by pre-booking, do so. Reef operators will change day on your request, but do give them about 24 hours notice.
