Queenstown Accommodations??

Hi! We are going on our honeymoon this December and will have three nights in Queenstown. We were originally supposed to stay at Heritage Queenstown but it got booked. We are now staying at Mecure Grand Hotel St Moritz in 1 bedroom suite. I know nothing about this hotel, can someone fill me in and/or recommend a better hotel. Also, what should we do in Queenstown?

Thanks and god bless

Just returned from Nz. Queenstown is the best. E-mail me at [email protected] and I will send you copy of trip. We stayed at Novetel Gardens, free wash & day. 3-5 mintues from downtown. Great food and tours.

There is so much to do in Queenstown that you will be spoilt for choice. Depends whether you want active - such as jet boating, white water rafting, horse trekking and bungy jumping or more sedate like a cruise on the lake, trip to Milford Sound. One trip I would not miss is the crossing on the lake to Whakatipu Sheep Station.
Put a search up for Queenstown and you should get lots of ideas. The tourist bureau there is a mine of information so make that your first stop.

Although we didn't stay at the Mecure, we did stay at the Quality Terraces and found it quit good for the price. We were very surprised and happy with the accomodations. It's not a suite or even that romantic, but the views overlooking the lake & mountains were breathtaking.

While in Queenstown, I went hang gliding. It was soooo fun & a high point to my trip. We also took a cruise on the Earnslaw (sp?) steamship which was relaxing and beautiful.

MILLBROOK RESORT outside of Queenstown is outstanding. Golf resort with villa suites. Free shuttle to town. Close to Arrowtown.

Queenstown is the home of "TerrorTourism". If it is exciting, they have it.

The jetboat ride on the Shotover River was a lot of fun.

Bungy jumping from the original spot where it started is okay if you are into that.

The trip by small plane to MILFORD SOUND and then the boat ride is outstanding. You will see some great scenery in the air and from the boat.

Just shopping in town is also good. They have high quality shops and then the junk. I found great men's clothes at Rodd and Gunn in Queenstown. The Bondi store is upscale for men and women. Also some nice art galleries and restaurants by the wharf.

All in all, this is one great town and location to have a good time.
