Quamea, Taveuni, Tokoriki or Vomo and why

Hello we have received lots of great help from all of you. Thank you very much. We are doing a 4 - 6 night Blue Lagoon Cruise with the rest of our time at a resort. We are really torn between these 4. I know most of you love Mantagi but right now that's not an option for reasons other than money. So between these which would be best? We like to snuggle and explore. Since we will have great snorkeling on our cruise will we miss the beach at Taveuni and is the beach really good at Tokoriki? Another very important aspect is having a beautiful ocean view from our bedroom. We have seen photos of Quamea and so far it looks like they have no view at all from the bedroom that's why we are thinking of Taveuni and Tokoriki. Also have a chance to grab some great deals at Vomo but really don't know much about it. Has anyone been there? What did you think of it? How about bugs at these places? We're very excited about hearing from you. Thank you. The Happy Honeymooners

Hi there

I can only offer first hand opinions about Tokoriki as I havent been to the others although I have done lots of research on them!

Tokoriki's beach is beautiful - long stretch of white sand, turquoise water etc etc. There arent too many palm trees, but there is plenty of shade nearer your bure. All of the bures are right on the beach with lovely views of the sea. You have lots of privacy and can sit outside your bure with the feeling that you are alone on the island!

Tokoriki is quite a big island and there are lots of walks along the beach or up the hills behind the resort. You can do village visits etc to.

As far as I know, Taveuni would be better for snorkelling etc and the island is supposed to be far more lush, with many amazing rainforest and waterfall walks. I am not sure how the beaches compare though.

As for Vomo, I can only tell you what I have heard from several travel agents and people on this board...basically the resort is in a bit of financial difficulty and therefore the resort is apparently not really up to its former standard. It used to be in the same league as Yasawa, Turtle etc but is really not up to scratch any more. One travel agent was trying to sell it to me and was saying how she had just come back and that it was lovely, beautiful etc. When I said, yes but was it worth the money? She said no.

What I take from that is that although the resort may be 'better' than somewhere like Matagi or Tokoriki the extra expense do not outweigh these benefits.

Since i visited Tokoriki they have installed A/C into all the bures, which was my only complaint at the time.

Tokoriki is also much easier to get to than Taveuni!

Hope that helps in lieu of more fisrt hand experience!

Thank you Sonia, I really appreciate your feedback. That was a great question you asked your agent. May I ask the name of the agent you would recommend, who did you use? Thanks again. Brian

Hello, My family and I will make our first visit to Figi in June/July. Can you tell me is it is really possible to sleep just using a fan rather than an AC. Also, are the mosquitos bad. Thanks

We go to Qamea each year for two weeks. Always between June and September. Temperatures range 70 low and 80 high. No air conditioning. None needed. Ceiling fan more than adequate. Other months might be a bit warmer and more humid.
Enjoy ... Else
