Compared to US airlines, QANTAS is heaven ... at least comparing coach class to coach class. You can actually EAT the food on the QANTAS flight. Coach food on most US airlines is like packing material.

We will be flying next month from Los Angeles to Sydney. The flight does not leave until 10:30 p.m. Has someone else that has been on this same flight tell me if they serve you dinner even though it is late. Also, what kinds of things are included in the snack bag that they give you?

A few years ago now, and it was a midnight departure that was delayed an hour, but we were served dinner after takeoff. From memory there was a long interval between that meal and breakfast.

I took the LA to Sydnet flight (via Auckland) 2 and a half years ago, and yes, they serve a meal after takeoff (seem to remember there was only one meat and one vegetarian dish).

Some of Qantas' code share partners on the trans pacific route don't however serve a main meal on the late night flights (e.g. Air Pacific)
