Hi,
There are places to stay on the south side of the Daintree River,in the village of Daintree and once you cross the Daintree River there are dozens of places to stay.Best if you log on to Yahoo etc.and search the area for accommodation.A example would be:
Coconut Beach Rainforest Resort,<www.coconutbeach.com.au>
on the other end of the scale is PK'S Jungle Village at Cape Trib.<www.pksjunglevillage.com.au>
Cape Trib.Beach House <bootsnall.com.>
Let me know if you need more info.

i don't hesitate in recommending the cockatoo hill retreat to you. my husband and i had the pleasure of finding this well kept secret and spending one night (unfortunately, we could not stay more!) while in daintree last october (2002). carmen and gilles are the owners (a french couple of the utmost grace and charm) and you will NOT be dissapointed!
you can check them out at http://www.cockatoohillretreat.com.au/
the pictures say it all! there are a maximum of 8 guests...and it is pure paradise in the rainforest!
if you do stay there, please tell them darin and julie from CA said hi!

We recently stayed at Silky Oaks Lodge and Spa (30-45 minutes north of Cairns) ... it's beautiful, remote, w/ gourmet dining and pretty cabins right within the rainforest. They arrange for daily tours, which are anything but roughing it. A few bugs and spiders in the room, but it's the rainforest afterall.
