Perth and Environs: I'd appreciate your comments and suggestions

Enjoyed your "Perth and Vicinity" report, Mel, and am looking forward to going before too long. Judilie, I spoke to DS today about his short trip, which was in Feb, and he said it was very hot and very crowded, since Greg Norman and his golf tournament was in town. September weather should be better.
DS had not booked hotels ahead, and had trouble. On the Margaret River trip, he said he tried 12 motels before finding a room. His advice, therefor, was to book ahead, which you have done.
He said the ferries to Rottnest go at 8am,and midday, and return at 3pm and 5pm and that the trip down the river from Perth was beautiful. Mel's post had links to up to date ferry services. Am sure you'll enjoy it.
