Online driving direction help?

Does anyone know if there are any sites online that can provide driving directions, times and maps for NZ and OZ like mapquest and yahoo can for Europe? Thanks!

I checked out www.travelmate.com.au but it only appears to be for Australia. Is there a similiar site for NZ? I am trying to map a trip from Auckland to Havelock North.

Thank you for your help -

Here is a Mapquest-like driving directions site for NZ:
http://www.wises.co.nz/route/

Here are some good online NZ roadmaps:
http://www.backpack-newzealand.com/mapofnewzealand.html

Here is a table of NZ driving times and distances:

Thanks, ALF.

I had come across the wises site, but it won't recognize either my starting or my ending addresses, which I am getting straight off of the company websites (26 Rennie Drive, Airport Way, Auckland to 9 Guthrie Road, Havelock North, Hawkes Bay). I know the distance and approximate trip time - just wanted directions at this point.

Any suggestions would be appreciated - perhaps there is an alternate site or perhaps I have no clue what I am doing ...

Thanks.

Rennie Drive is near the airport. Take 20A out of the airport, then turn left onto Montgomerie Rd, across from the 'Mainfreight' building. Rennie Dr is two blocks further along Montgomerie.

Guthrie Road, in Havelock North, borders Guthrie Park. If you are entering town from the north, take Havelock Road into North Havelock. At the third roundabout, turn left (eastbound) onto Te Mata Road. Turn left onto Guthrie Road, about 8 blocks from the roundabout.

If you go to wises.co.nz and ask for directions from Rennie Drive, Auckland to Havelock Road, Havelock North, Hastings, then you will get there. If you look on a map, North Havelock is right next to Hastings, on the east coast. It should be about 450km.

For driving directions in Australia, you could also try www.racq.com.au
This is the Queensland motorists' association and they have a good site for travellers.

Annalynn et al,

I would question the accuracy of travelmate.com.au for driving time.
It forecasts 3 hr and 39 min Hobart to Strahan in Tasmania.

The Tourist office in Hobart said 5 hours. It actually took us 6 hours driving time ( rests nic). So unless you have a bladder as big as the Ritz, you might want to check alternative sources.

AndrewDavid

Ps: we drove at the speed limit or just slightly less

Alf, your directions were a bit vague. Do you think you could provide a little more detail?

On that third roundabout, you want to go around 24.5 degree before turning left.

Assuming you're picking up a rental car, you can get maps at the rental office.
