NZ/AU cyber cafes & internet access
My husband & I will be spending several weeks in NZ & AU in Dec, Jan, Feb. I won't be taking a laptop with me and wondered about the availability of places in NZ & AU where we can check our e-mail. Thx for any info. Meg

Meg,
I spent 6 months last year in NZ and OZ ("Backpacker") I seldom had a problem finding an internet cafe. They seem to be much more common than in USA. Fewest seemed to be on S.Is, NZ. If the hotel does not know where to find one, ask at a hostel (or 'backpacker').
Prices usually worked out to $6 -7 (US$) per hour. Have fun. You'll have the time ouf your life! Keith

Ditto! I was there in December and January '99, and had no trouble accessing the internet at a cyber cafe. As long as you are in a "tourist" type place, there will be no difficulty. Even our hotel in Wanaka let the guests use the internet for a fee...$5 for 1/2 hour. No worries! Kim

I live in Sydney and can guarantee that you won't have a problem with Internet Cafes. There are atleast five in Kings Cross and about as many on George Street near Chinatown. Usually they only charge 50c for checking your email, some are even free. Prices for Web access are only a couple of dollars an hour.
