Hi to everyone: Pat if you would like to come to the Hotel overlooking the harbour for NYE that's fine to bring your daughter and husband and join us. At this time you were the only one who emailed me directly and I would give you the details in a direct email. I guess since everyone else has family with them or friends we can't fit everyone (hotel rules) and I guess we all wouldn't be able to see out one window!!! If all fodorites do decide to have a get together for lunch another day or something I'd love to attend. We are doing the bridgeclimb on the 28th at 10:45am. If Pat decides to come to the hotel then we could still accomodate 6-7 people if anyone else wants to join in. Let me know. Barb from Toronto

NYE is getting a bit complicated.
How's everyone placed New Years Day, say for late afternoon drinks? (I have to work the next day!)

We're leaving for Brisbane on the first. If not NYE, how about the day before?

Hi, everyone!
With all due respect, I think that whichever day we choose, it's bound to be impossible for one-third of the group and difficult for another third. While I would like to meet Fodorites anywhere at any time, I would be hesitant to agree at this early stage to any of the days either side of New Year's Eve. But I will, unless weather or the terrorists intervene, definitely be in Sydney with my family on NYE, so I think I will just stay with my original offer -- when I find a likely spot, I will advertise it on this site (with instructions on how best to get there), and when we go down early afternoon to "claim" it, I will put up a sign (or something) signifying that this is the Fodor's blanket. Hopefully, someone will be bale to make it!

I'm pretty sure on New Year's day I will be battling a hangover.

But other than that, I'll just be hanging out with friends. Maybe go to the beach.

Hi again,
Well my husband decided he wanted to be on the harbor, not watching the harbor, SO, we will not be taking advantage of Barbara's generous offer.
We looked at Fiesta Cruises but Janet is sold out. What a great lady. Not only did she answer all types of questions BUT she gave me recommendations and websites for other charter boats. We have chosen Proclaim Charters. Their boat will be part of the parade (a must) and will be in the charter boat area for the fireworks. It was $250AUD. PP. So far SYD is costing me the most (Bridge Climb on New Year's Day and boat on NYE) but I know it will be worth every cent.
I'll keep checking the boards to see if there is a get together. Mucky, if nothing else, lets try to get our families together to say Hi since we'll be a block from each other.
Cheers.
Pat

Hi Pat!

Sorry to hear that you couldn't get on the Fiesta Cruise with us, but I am sure you will have a great time. I'll have to look for your boat in the water! Yes, it is a little costly, but it is a vacation of a lifetime, at least it is for us! We even made reservations for Forty-One restaurant for dinner which is way expensive but I figure it is a once-in-a-lifetime and it comes so highly recommended on this site.

Mucky: I hope you have a nice vacation and after all of your help on this site, I hope that Fodors does have a get-together so I can thank everyone in person! This includes crazymina and Alan and all the others who have been so helpful!

Okay, Margo, you only have to watch out for Mucky! The rest of us will behave. As soon as he falls asleep we can paint his toenails orange! Beware, Mucky!

Fine then...the first 3 people through the door can visit my place - the rest of you will have to loiter in the driveway until one of the three decides to leave (or gets thrown out!)!

Boy Margo, what an invitation....I wonder if Mucky will take you up on it and be one of the first three to show up? He's a family of 4 so I guess he'll leave one outside while he gets his nails painted orange.
We leave five weeks from Saturday and I can't wait. It's gale force winds and cold in NJ.
Cheers
