KarenWoo I used RealNZ for my booking of both the overnight Milford Sound cruise and the day cruise on TSS Earnslaw. I like that their meeting place is walking distance to my hotel and for the Milford Sound trip, they pick you up near your hotel and bring you back after the 2-day experience. That works for my situation as a solo-traveler just getting a taste of the South Island for a couple days. But if I had more time and freedom, having my own vehicle would be optimal. The part I'm regretting is not having the freedom or time to do some hiking around the Milford Sound.

Hello SF! Nice to see you here. It'll be even nicer to see you in our lovely country If you're looking for info for that trip, may I suggest you hop over to Trip Advisor? The Australia forum there is very active with some great contributors. Unfortunately it's a bit ... not so active ... here.
