While I haven't reseached Club Meds, I have done a lot of research regarding package deals to FP and your price seems a bit steep. We are also traveling from NYC and are look at luxury hotels with overwater bungalows in June 2000 with prices just over your Club Med quote. I think you could get a better deal. Have you tried www.millenniumtours.com? I don't know if they do club med but they offer great pricing.

Good luck!
Lee

Steve,
My wife and I have been to the Club Med on Moorea twice and had great experiences both times. We live on the west coast, so I can't comment on the price, but the facility has an excellent beach for swimming, snorkeling, and sunning. You do get to the Moorea club via a short flight from Papeete, then a half-hour bus ride. I can't say for Bora Bora, but friends that have been there tell me it is more laid back than Moorea, and less people overall--not that Moorea is hectic, far from it! Make sure your travel agent knows this is a honeymoon and tells Club Med--you'll get a free cocktail party and if he/she has come clout, maybe a secluded bungalow. The Tahitians are very friendly on Moorea and it's fun to rent a scooter for a ride around the island.

Steve,
I have never used Club Med so cannot tell you Club Med specific ones. I can clarify in other areas.

Moorea airport to any hotel is ground transportation.

From Moorea airport to Bora Bora airport, while the path you described is possible, you can go direct from Moorea to Bora Bora. Pay close attention to which direction the planes are taking off. If taking off to South, sit on right side (seats were not assigned) for the breathtaking view of the Moorea's high peaks just next to the right window. The plane goes South (because the peaks are too high to fly over) and crosses over to NW of the Moorea before heading to Bora Bora.
From Bora Bora airport to anywhere require a boat. The airport is on a motu. Most major hotels have large cruisers waiting at the dock outside the airport terminal to take guests directly to their hotels.

Hi there!
My husband and I just came back from Moorea, Bora Bora and Papeete. Your price for Club Meds seems steep. Although we traveled from Atlanta,we did stay at the Parkroyal in Moorea and Papeete, and the Meridien in Bora Bora (which was outstanding). The Club Meds were situated well, but by looking at them we thought they were definitely not at the level of the hotels we were staying at--and for your honeymoon I would thing you'd want something more luxurious. We payed just a little over your price, for 10 days and all were over water bungalows. The island of Moorea is definitely more developed than BoraBora. There is not much to do on either island, but it doesn't matter for a honeymoon, because there are plenty of water activities to keep you busy during the day--or just relax its the perfect place. We definitely enjoyed Bora Bora more because the beauty of the water--its unparalleled. However, the island is definitely underdeveloped, so being at a good hotel is important. The flight schedule is accurate. In Moorea you wil be driven to Club Med, and in Bora Bora you will be boat shuttled to the island since the airport is on an islet. Brush up on your French because it was very difficult communicating--few people spoke English well. We saw no evidence of crime. Good luck!

Hi, I am french and I have read with great interest your questions and the answers that have been made.
From France, I booked both Club Meds the same weeks as you and I am paying 550 FF one day for one person (less than 90$)for Moorea and 850 FF for Bora Bora (130$). I find that what you are paying from the US is very expensive, considering that I am coming from France (22hours flight) and paying my plane ticket 5500 FF (850$. Club Med are not the finest hotels on Moorea and Bora Bora but everything is included, meals, waterski, boats and so on ...Good quality for what you pay in general.
