Milford Sound trip/flight from Wanaka or Queenstown

I've found out you can make the Milford Sound fly/cruise/fly trip from either Wanaka or Queenstown.

Any opinions out there on which is better ? The Wanaka version seems cheaper.

Thanks, Sharon

Hi Sharon
doing the trip from Queenstown would be the better option I think, theres a company called Air Fiordland who are really good and fly from both Queenstown and Te Anau (which is closer to Milford). If the weather isn't up to flying, don't get talked in to a bus trip from Queenstown to Milford and back, its too long. Go from Te Anau instead.
hope that helps, Rachel

I flew from Q-town to Milford on Glenorchy Air - they do a nice job and the flight is really amazing. Then we took the boat around the sound and also did the underwater aquarium. It was ALL worth it. We considered that to be the highlight of our stay in NZ.

definately better to do the tour out of Queenstown, Wanaka is another hour away.
Fiordland travel are the boat company but have a look at airfiordland.com for the air trip.
