Matangi: Treehouse or Deluxe Bure?
Hi Everyone!
My fiance and I are hoping to honeymoon at Matangi Island Resort. We are not sure if we should reserve a Treehouse Bure or a Deluxe one. I have read on this board that the Deluxe ones may be better as they are more spacious and seem to have better ventilation?
Does anyone know where the Deluxe Bures are located? Are they right on the beach?
We are looking for romance and assume either would be fine but I am intrigued by the notion of a treehouse! My fiance is more "intigued" by saving a bit of money by staying in a deluxe vs treehouse!
I understand that new treehouses have been built recently? Has anyone stayed in one?
Any and all info would be extrememly appreciated. Please feel free to post here or e-mail me at [email protected]
Lisa
Was there last year and we're going again. This is basically a dive resort, with not much else to do. If you haven't tried scuba this is the place to do it..very low key and non-threatening staff. We're talkin' 85 degree water with live coral everywhere. The only problem is, you'll be spoiled for diviving anywhere else. If you refuse to dive, the snorkling comes damn close....The tree house...very fun, but you gotta climb 50 steps everytime you wanna change your bathing suit. The regular, deluxe bures are great but do not really have views, and the sunsets are incredible.Hope to see you there!

Lisa,

My fiancee and I are going to Matangi for our honeymoon in April. We'll be staying in a cliff-top bure - I really was intrigued by the out-door shower! And as Steve said, I hear the views are incredible... I hope they make up for the 50 step hike to the bure! When is your honeymoon? I'll be sure to post here about our experience when we return.

Best of luck to you!

Lisa,

You were able to book your honeymoon at Matangi? CONGRATS!!

We just returned and it was wonderful. We are not divers and were in heaven! One of the perks we had is that most of the other couples were divers, so we often had the resort to ourselves. We kayaked, smorkled, sunbathed and did a lot of nothing... There was never any pressure to do anything, but you can do whatever you want.

The staff is excellent. The food was great! We had a private dinner our last night and special ordered ~ it was beautiful. We had a few sunset cocktail hour cruises... I can't say anything bad about it.

We met wonderful people who we plan to keep in touch with. We were actually teary when we had to leave.

Please let me know if you'd like to see pictures.

Best of luck to you. STAY SANE!
