Looking for Alan

Greetings Alan, we have followed your suggestions for the last two years and have enjoyed everything that you recommended.

We are fortunate again to be able to return this August and will be in Oz for 3 weeks. We are going to spend 2 1/2 days in Darwin and were wondering if you had any tips for that part of the country with such a short time available?

Wish there was some way to return the favor to you and all those who provide such fantastic advice!

Cheers

Steve and Andrea

Hi, Steve and Andrea!

Well, you have paid me back already, with such a fine compliment. I consider we are even.

I have never ever been ro Darwin -- it's a place I have always wanted to go, and maybe I will finally get there now that internal flights in Australia have come down to $AUD29 a trip (not yet as far as Darwin, however!) So I will leave the advice to the many more knowledgeable posters, with the hope that you have another great time in our country. Thanks again!

Alan, can you elaborate on the $29AUD airfares? How does one get those, and which destinations are that cheap?

Thanks,
Dave.

Copen,
I am not Alan, but if you scroll down the list of Posts you will find one concerning the new budget airline which Qantas has just launched - and the $29 fares on offer as a result.

Copen, if there is anything left after the mad scramble for the 100,000 seats released by Jetstar and the 200,000 seats released in competition by VirginBlue (not all that likely, as the jamming of both airlines' computer systems made the front pages out here), then you can search for them on www.virginblue.com.au and www.jetstar.com.au. You can go as far as Cairns from Brisbane, as far as Hobart from melbourne, and as far as Melbourne and the Gold Coast from Sydney.
