Long term parking - Sydney

Hi there,

I'm doing a roadtrip that will encompass Sydney. I'm a bit hesitant about driving through Sydney itself and wondered if anyone has any ideas about where I can park long term and then travel in to the city by public transport. I'm staying in Sydney CBD, so the carpark needs to be somewhere I can leave the car for a few days.

Thanks

Hi Jenwar, Just a thought.
Are you hiring the car?

If so why not give it back for a few days and re hire when you need it.

Many of the big hire companies are based near the CBD.

Well...

a sensible suggestion from the Muck there!

Should be cheaper, too!

I think Jenwar may be using his/her car from the one previous post and is coming from Victoria. If that's the case, most train stations have a carpark for commuters' cars, I'm not sure how secure that would be, but it's one possibility.

You could leave the car at the airport long term parking and get the train into the CBD.

Hi Jenwar,
I use the Park and Fly facilities at the domestic airport http://www.parknfly.com.au/site/Home/Index.aspx
The rates are pretty good and can get a free transfer to & from the airport, from where you could take the train into the city.

Why not just drive about 6-7kms to a residential street, park the car there and get a bus/trian in to the city. Many residents leave cars in the street, and if you lock it, there is no reason why it should be stolen in just a few days. In any case, if it is stolen, the hire company will give you another car. They are insured. Much cheaper (as in zilch) than a long term car park. I suggest somewhere in Bondi, so that you can spend a few hours visiting Watsons Bay, Bondi Beach and other spots in that area at time of drop off or pick up.
