Lodging on Coromandel Peninsula?

Any suggestions for places to stay on the Coromandel Peninsula--say, Coromandel town or Thames or Whangamata or some place else? We'll be going in July. Thanks!

Last year we stayed at Harbour View motel at Coromandel. We paid about $160 NZ for a large bedroom/lounge/kitchen plus separate bathroom and second bedroom. The best part is that all units have a balcony with great views over Coromandel Bay. It's about 1 km from town.

We enjoyed Coromandel Colonial Cottages.

July in the Coromandel Peninsula is not the best idea. I might stick with Thames. If the weather is bad, you don't want to get trapped on the east side due to landslides.

We stayed at the Coromandel Court Motel in Coromandel town. It is centrally located behind the Informtion Centre and was fabulous. Lots of great welcoming touches.

We had a very modern two bedroom suite with kitchen and both bedrooms had king size beds. Well worth the $125.00 NZ for the night.

Walk to town for dinner at the Peppertree restaurant. Heartily recommended.
