Is Aust and NZ doable in two weeks?

Hello,

I saw this itinerary on a web site. Is this doable in two weeks?

Your Australia New Zealand Fly Drive Vacation includes:

Round-trip airfare from Los Angeles to Australia (Sydney) and New Zealand (Auckland). Low add-on fares are available from most major US airports.

3 Nights’ accommodations in Sydney
Additional 3 nights' accommodations at a Best Western hotel of your choice anywhere else in Australia.

3-Day car rental in Australia, with unlimited mileage (Sydney to Melbourne or Gold Coast / Brisbane) 4 days compact car-manuel or automatique is fine-whichever he less expensive

6 Nights’ accommodations (open hotel vouchers) in New Zealand. (south island?)

6-Day rental car in New Zealand with unlimited mileage (manuel or automatique whichever is less expensive)

All hotel service charges and Australian / New Zealand government taxes applicable on the above services
Currently applicable airline fuel surcharges (as of 2 Jan 09)

Well you can certainly drive from Sydney to either Melbourne or the Gold Coast in three days and six days driving will get you around some of NZ.

So from that aspect it is doable and if there is a special price for such a package there'll be some people who'll consider a great 2 week getaway package that'll allow you to see just a few highlights of both countries.
If that is your style of travelling and seems of value against any jetlag both ends, then fine.

Been other people who have done similar in past no doubt.
www.travelmate.com.au and http://www.travelplanner.co.nz/ [Ctrl click on distances and then click the link for map] will give you some appreciation of distances/times.

Of course it is doable. As noted above, you could see some of the sights in and around Sydney in 3 days and Auckland in 6 days. Just so long as you realize that you will not have seen much of Australia. In 6 days, you could put together a reasonable tour of NZ's North Island.

Doable? Yes.

Same as doing the US and the Caribbean in 2 weeks.

Seeable? See what?
