Info on Australia and Auckland, New Zealand

I would like to know what the best spots are to visit in New Zealand and Australia. I plan to go in late July or early august and want to know what the weather is like over there.

How far is the Great Barrier from Sydney or Melbourne and which is a better city to visit?

I love australia I flew into Sydney which I just loved it. Then we flew to Cairns and onto Port douglas wich is the closest place to the reef. and then we flew to Brisbane and the Gold Coast if any of these places you need some info on let me know. It is a fantastic place to visit

I live in Brisbane, and I lived in Sydney for one year. If youb have to choose between the two then you would go to Sydney as the Opera House and the harbour, etc are international icons of Australia. Email me if you want anything specific. Have a great trip.
