How is Sydney Wonderland Theme Park ?

Wonderland aspires to be a theme park, but I think that it is really just an amusement park (i.e lots of rides). Indeed there are Hanna-Barbera characters (Fred & Barney, Yogi Bear & Booboo, etc.) walking about, and there are some shows, but I would go to Wonderland if I wanted to go on rides. I think it is bigger than anything I saw on the Gold Coast. Wet n' Wild in Oxenford has bigger and better water slides, but Wonderland seems to have the best rides (this is according to my kids, who are bigger aficianados of both). Actually, the most hysterical thing in Wonderland was a couple of employees who dressed up and pretended to be outrageous (Yank, of course) tourists. They kept on getting the other visitors to take their pictures in front of points of interest, while holding giant suitcases and wearing incredibly loud clothing and voices.

Wonderland is, frankly, vastly overpriced for what you get, which is why there are discount coupons all over the place at the moment offering adults at kids prices and $10 off for kids. Don't go without getting hold of one of those! As Alf said, it's just a collection of rides and the usual queues, but it is, if memory serves, at least bigger than such Gold Coast attractions as Warner Bros Movie World, which had us, at lunch time, wondering what to do with the rest of our day (maybe it's expanded since then). If you do go to Wonderland, September is a rather nice time to go.... in summer it is inclined to be awfully bright (situated as it is in the harsh western suburbs, almost at the foot of the Blue Mountains).

I am Queensland based and my kids thought that Wonderland was dreadful - if you compare it with Sea-World here on the coast and also Dreamworld ( more rides than any of the others)
Movie World is hardly a good comparison as I stayed there for 3/4 hour and was bored but I like the others.

My trip with my wife and 4-year-old in June this year to Wonderland was his highlight and because of that, ours.

If you are planning it as a family event for children around that age/height (<1.2m?), it is more than enough for them to enjoy.

Here's a site for kids entertainment in Sydney:

http://www.sydneyforkids.com.au/family_fun.htm
