Honeymoon advice!

I need help deciding where to go for my Honeymoon in May-June. I have narrowed it down to the Hawaiian islands, Bora Bora, or Bali and Singapore.
We are adventurous souls, and I am easily bored, unfortunately. So culture is important, but a relaxin beach honeymoon is the goal. So, to strike a balance...

My concerns for each are below:

Hawaii: Not exotic enough. I could go here anytime, and for free, using travel points.
Four seasons (and similar) resorts are nearly as expensive as French Polynesia.

Bali/Singapore: Maybe too scary now. Will I get kidnapped and taken to the Phillipines?
Is Singapore too un-romantic?
At least I could get in more than one location.

French Polynesia: Its expensive, however, I am shooting for a first class honeymoon.
Would I get bored/run out of things to do in 2 weeks? I can only snorkel so much.
Nitelife - is there any? Ive heard that some festival is noisy late at night - well thats right up my alley!

Basically, we are young (20's) and looking for a luxureous honeymoon on the beach, with things to keep us busy all day and night.
What are your recommendations?
Which hotel on Bora Bora? Hawaii? Bali?
All of your cons for all of your destinations are right on the money.

Have you consdiered Maldives (off coast of India) or Phuket, Thailand? Thailand will allow for an "adventure" in Chaing Mai- elephant rides, etc. then a night or two in Bangkok, then lots of fun things to do and see on Phuket- like boat trips, etc Rent "The Beach" and see if it appeals. Lots of culture.

The Maldives is paradise, though a bit boring.

Singapore is a great city, but romantic, it ain't.

I think you can't beat Jimbaran Bay plus an Amanresort or two for a way to drain your bank account in a pretty setting, Bali. Ubud, Bali, has great culture and very $$ hotels to make you feel special.

It is my opinion that you will be very bored on a two week stay in French Polynesia. Even island hopping you will find repetitive as the islands do not have distinct characters the way the Hawaiian islands do. In terms of "culture" it's a hotel dance show and that's about all.

If your opinions of Hawaii are formed by TV game show prizes, you are missing out. There are lots of activities and it is a state in name only. Most of the people look different, talk different and are happy to share their distinct island culture. Each island is different and unique. YOu would probably enjoy Kauai for its 11 mile cliff hike and 5 star hotels and the Big island for its drop dead 6 star resorts, active volcano, hikes and horseback rides.

Also, see a similar thread on this same board from someone with the same concerns.
What about a bit of both? How about doing Singapore ( not in the least dangerous) which is very interesting and very clean with lots and lots of things to do. Then either take a train or fly to Lan Kawai (sp?) which is off the north west coast of Malaysia. It has some of the best beaches in SE Asia and some of the nicest hotels too. They also have trips shopping into Thailand and its a lovely spot. One of my best holidays was going through the Malay peninsular and into Thailand by train which started in Singapore. You can get to see a lot of different culture and I am sure that you will be treated with the utmost courtesy in all places. I would be a tad concerned about Indonesia at present although the people of Bali are not Moslems the rest of the country is. Mind you, so are Malaysians but I don't think they are as radical.

Try the Cook Islands in south pacific - Raratonga is the main island and is absolutely fantastic. You must stay near Muri Beach if you decide. However it may be a little quiet but the Cooks are fantastic

Hi Jason,
I agree with "other ideas",
Bali is the place to go. You should have no fear to be kidnapped. Thats just a very small area 1000km or more north east malaysia/philippines.
Bali - is - and was during the indoesian
troubles in the recent years a calm place.
Indeed an AMAN resort- even it's the best you can buy, might also be a bit boring after the while.
It is for the few who needs relaxation, spa wellness etc.
Also the Four Season Jimbaran Bay is a fantastic hideaway and you could combine it with the FS Sayan - breathless views over Ayung River (close to Ubud).
At found those two the best places not only to be pampered but also to enjoy the scenery, the people, and the arts especially at Ubud.
Maledives are def. for snorkling freaks,
and french polynesia are too, boring after a while. But that might be my personal opinion and won t hurt those who feel home there.
Bali - its the safe exotic experience.
More info needed - email me
Shain/eu/de/düsseldorf

I think you would be bored to death in places like the Cook Islands and Maldives and even Bali can get somewhat boring too after a couple of days and the hawkers drove me demented there, they never stop pestering you.
I agree with the positive comments on Singapore and Malaysia
