Looking quickly at this I do not think anyone has mentioned Battery Point. So , meggies, if you have the time and especially if Salamanca Market is on walk up to the end of the Place and on your right is a street that climbs upwards and keep going and you will find yourself in a really lovely and in many ways very quaint area .Tasmanians here will remind me of the street ...Circle ? which is a little circular street with tiny old houses .Nice if you'd like a little walk perhaps eating something delicious you bought at the Market as you go.

That is Arthur's Circus. There is also a small restaurant called Mother's, which makes lovely meals, soups, sandwiches, etc. They have a nice patio with a lemon tree as well. One of our favorites.

Thanks oliverandharry .I was having a "seniors moment ". I really love that part of Hobart and peering in gardens in bloom and the junk / antique shops etc.

Thank you, JohnFitz and oliverandharry. That is exactly the kind of information we are looking for. I have been searching guidebooks for a walking tour of Hobart highlights. I am hoping a local might be kind enough to post your own suggestion for a walking tour of Hobart that will include natural beauty and local atmosphere. We are not shoppers. Our souvenirs are our photographs and our memories.

LizzyF, JohnFitz, oliverandharry and other generous posters, I've come to realize that all your responses put together make a wonderful walking tour, and more besides. I am very grateful to all of you for taking the time to help us appreciate the best of Hobart.
