Hobart docking/wharf
Does anyone know where the Princess Sapphire will be docking in Hobart on 12/27/2004. Will it be way out due to its size or, by any chance, at Brooke Street Pier-Sullivens cove? Would much appreciate correct info regarding docking wharf in relation to Sullivens Cove, distance wise.
Thanks

I think it docks about 20 yards from the road which takes you the other 400 yards around to Salamanca Place. Hobart is small enough to only have one place to dock anyway. Everything is within walking distance - even the tourist bureau which can point you in the right direction to wherever it is you wish to go.

Email the Hobart harbour master, Captain Mike Boss-Walker at [email protected]
He'll know.
Brooke Street Pier is located in Sullivan's cove. A stone's throw away from Salamanca Place.

You will dock down the very end of Salamanca Place which is only a 2 minute walk to the centre anyway. If you ask anyone there they will show you where the tourist bureau is as its only 2 streets away from there and also on one of the piers. You will dock in front of the customs house which is across the road from the Old Harbour Masters house which I looked hard and longingly at a couple of years ago when it was for sale. No, I am not in Hobart but when Global warming arrives in full force I will go and live there :0) What a shame that your ship is only in there for such a short time. If I were you I would just get over to Richmond - a charming little convict built village 15 minutes from Hobart and wander around there - go back to Hobart and have a wander there too. The Huon Valley is lovely but I don't know what time of year you are going to be there but the Huon, although nice, does not give you the same "feeling" and sites of Tasmania, which is quite different from anything in Australia's mainland. I would actually be surprised if there is not a "walk of some kind" in NZ.
