High Speed Internet Access
What is the general availability of high speed internet access in the major Australia and New Zealand cities? I am considering using one of the VOIP services which requires broadband access to the internet.

Hi anzbound,
There are few ISP's that give casual access rates to broadband services but some of the major hotels do provide internet services but they are usually dial up and not broadband.
Some of the internet cafes may have broadband for casual use but whether they will allow VOIP ( voice over IP ) will be hit and miss.
Cheers

Hi anzbound,
I am going to say that at this time there would be no wireless broadband enabled hotels. I am heavily involved with wireless broadband and in Australia it is still in its infancy stage. I am involved with rolling out Wi-Fi broadband in Alice Springs, there are some other centres with coverage like Brisbane but you need proprietory equipment to get onto the network.
Cheers

Hi anzbound,
The only other option I can think of for wireless is in one of the Mcdonalds restaurants that have a wireless hot spot installed. They have quite a few wireless capable ones now and to locate which have them then I suggest you look at their website which is :
http://www.mcdonalds.com.au
The wireless enable restaruants can be found under the title "Restaurant Locator".
Hope this helps.
