dear gregg,
I'm sure you will be able to arrange your new zealand leg of your trip using public transport but you might find that with the new zealand dollar being 42 cents to the u.s. dollar at the moment the cost of renting a car might be quite cheap for you. There are lots of good motels all throughout new zealand with full kitchen facilities so cooking your own meals would be cost effective. We also have some of the best fresh food in the world. Enjoy your adventure in our country.

If you are planning to stay in caravan parks in Australia you may want to get some details in advance re location and price etc. Here are two websites that could be useful -www.big4.com.au and http://toptourist.contact.com.au. Hope this information is of help to you. Have a great holiday.

You should be OK getting accommodation in November and early December but be aware that summer school holidays start on 16 December. It's a good idea to telephone ahead and book, particularly if you are relying on public transport.
If you want a recommendation for a caravan park in Brisbane, we always stay at 'Dress Circle Mobile Village' - it's about 15 km from the centre of Brisbane, few minutes walk from main road and the bus to city. Big shopping centre close by. Swimming pool and lots of room for children to run around, plus bird aviaries to look at. Their telephone number is 07 3341 6133. Hope this helps.
