driving In Australia

Is a international driver's license required to rent a car in Australia? I have a Guam license and my wife has a Minnesota one? Also what is the average temp. in Oct?

Not sure about the international licence, but it's probably just as well to get it anyway.
weather in October depends on where you intend travelling to. Up north Qld is quite hot all year round - like 30o Celsius but more humid in Nov to Feb.
Melbourne can be quite chilly - even in October, but it is warming up by Oct. Probably around 20 to 25 celsius. Sydney is a bit warmer - about 25 celsius. Adelaide I think is about 20-25 too. Some years October is quite warm and yet we've had some quite chilly weather in Oct other years.

We rented a cars from Budget in Greysmouth, NZ and drove all around the South Island.....and also in Melbourne, AUS with our USA drivers licenses...no problems! One note....make your reservations from the US - you will get a much better rate......

It depends which company you hire your car with. They all have different policies. They should ask for an International licence, and your domestic one. And they shouldn't accept the international one without the domestic one. However, they're not too strict on it. It's not so much the rental companies as the police who may cause problems if you've just got a domestic one.

I am interested in renting a car from Cairns and driving south, preferably along the coast line. Is that possible? Any idea how far it is to Sydney, or to Brisbane? Any suggestions? Thanks...
