I am looking for a dinner cruise in sydney harbor in November. There seem to be so many options. Any advice on what each has to offer & the best value for the buck? Like good food so if food no good, don't want. Please advise

Don't do it. Take the normal ferries and have dinner at any one of our really good restaurants.

With Harbour views & very good food & service:
Aria, Quay, the dining room at the Park Hyatt, Aqua Dining at Milsons Point.
Book well in advance, particularly for Friday or Saturday nights.

I can only second Bokhara2's comments. I've never understood the attraction of a harbour dinner (or lunch) cruise. If you want to see the harbour, take the ferry to Manly - great views of the Bridge, Opera House and the harbour in general. The ferry takes about 30 minutes - get off at Manly, walk up the Corso to the beach, depending on the time of day have a coffee/breakfast/lunch/beer and take the ferry back. Have lunch or dinner at any of Sydney's many fine restaurants (who are in the business of providing good food). Perhaps I'm not really qualified to comment (as I've never done it) but it seems to me that the chances of a harbour cruise providing great views, great food and value for money combined in one package are slim to none.

Another negative for dinner cruising - if you happen to be unlucky enough to be on board with a large, rowdy crowd, then you're stuck with them for the whole cruise!

I would also go for the ferry ride option. If you made the round trip to Manly, with the return around sunset, then you'd have the best of all worlds for your experience. Di

Or walk the Corso to the beach, find the Manly Fish Cafe for dinner, and walk around the corner to Ben and Jerry's for dessert to eat while you sit on a bench by the beach. Go on the ferry to Manly while it's still daylight and return after dark. My idea of a lovely outing.

If you sepnd a bit more money for a dinner cruise and don't go for the cheap ones, you will find that the food is nice and the crowd will also be good. There are cruises for aout 200 AUD per person - I am very sure that food, service, people etc. will be fantastic. It just depends on your budgI would not go for the cheap ones.

I have a T-shirt from the Manly Fish Cafe. From the "It's a Small World Department: Saw an identical one on a cruise ship in the middle of the Atlantic in April.

We did go on a lunch cruise with "Cruise Like a Local". There were the two of us and four other people; that was it. Quite intimate and quiet; no rowdies. We loved it. Fish was grilled on board; lunch was simple but good. Captain and crew very nice and helpful and informative. We had a lovely afternoon and it was a highlight for us. We would not have enjoyed one of the large boats with many people. On a different day, we had lunch at Quay and found that a worthwhile splurge for "foodies." We thought the tasting at the Opera House wasn't very good (we did enjoy our tour of the Opera House, though).

Fort Denison is an interesting place to visit and have lunch. The views are spectacular as you are literally in the middle of the harbour. Do spend the extra $10 for a guided tour, as the history is interesting. Catch a ferry from Circular Quay.
