Desperately Seeking Australian Movie

This is not entirely a travel question but I thought this message board was a good resource for what I am looking for.

About two years ago I saw an Australian movie on American TV. The title of it is "Under the Lighthouse Dancing". I fell in love with the scenery and the movie but have been unable to find it anywhere to purchase. Is there an Aussie out there who can tell me where I might purchase this movie on VHS or DVD? It got horrible reviews but I loved the movie anyway. I believe it was filmed on Rottnest (sp?) Island -- I would love to visit there someday.

Any leads would be appreciated!

Laura

Laura I agree, it was a lovely movie filmed on Rottnest Island. I've done a search and couldn't find it listed anywhere. Big Sky Video have a lot of older movies and p'haps if you emailed your query to them they may be able to help. In the meantime I'll keep my eye out for it.

[email protected]

Laura,
I asked a friend who is heavily into DVD's etc and he suggested doing a search for Australian Film Commission and also Blockbuster Video. It may be that the film was never put out on video but you might be able to find out from these sites. Good luck.
Kay

Laura, I've found it. Buena Vista Home Entertainment (ph: 02 9502 1300) are the distributors in Australia. They have copies available but it can only be purchased through a video store. Price is AUD 29- + GST.

Do be careful here because the US video system is different to Australia and you will need a compatible system. I think Aust is VHS but anything bought in the US cannot be played on Australian videos.

Thanks everybody for all the leads on the movie! Big Sky Video and the Australian Film Commission were neither one able to help. Hopefully Rhonda will be able to get it for me (I'm getting ready to email you directly!). Thanks for the advice, Rel, about making sure it will work with "American VCR's" -- I'll be sure to mention that to Rhonda.

I hope it's a beautiful day in your part of the world!

Laura
