Darwin/Kakadu/Litchfield
My travel agent has me on day tours w/APT, one to Kakadu and the other to Litchfield. Given the distance from Darwin, can I really see enough of Kakadu in one day to appreciate it? Has anyone toured w/APT?

I'd also like any feedback on the Darwin Frontier Hotel.

Thanks! Happy travels to all!
Debbie

Camped 2 days in Kakadu and still felt we missed some stuff. You'll be able to "see" Kakadu or Litchfield in 1 day but you wouldn't experience it. Focus on Kakadu or Litchfield and try to spend 2-3days. It takes several hrs to reach the park and these big tour buses can't take you to the "off road" sites. My favorite part was swimming to Twin Falls where the water is clear and you can sit under the two waterfalls. Search the web for Kakadu and see what options are available to you. Have fun.

Debbie -

I went on a one day tour of Kakadu from Darwin last September. I was picked up from my hotel at something like 6 a.m. and didn't get back until about 8:30 p.m. I think. It made for a long day, but I loved Kakadu. You get to see quite a bit of the park and get a real feel for the outback. We went on a river trip of the Yellow River during the day, walked beneath fruit bats (really interesting), saw lots of aboriginal art and beautiful scenery. I wish I had more time to spend 2-3 days in Kakadu instead of just 1 long day.
Martha
Debbie,
I also did a one day tour from Darwin to Kakadu, it was great, I really enjoyed it. There was heaps more to see of course but one day was fine. APT (Australian Pacific Tours) have a good reputation. One tip - buy some RID (insect repellent) when you arrive to stop any insect bites. A sunhat and sunscreen are also a good idea.
Kay

We are going on a four day camping trip with Billy Can Tours, which covers Kakadu, Litchfield and the Katherine area. They also offer shorter trips to just Kakadu. Actually, there are several options. Because I have not been yet, I obviously cannot evaluate. However, for info purposes, their website is www.billycan.com.au
