My husband and I leave for Australia on Tuesday and I decided to visit Fodors this morning to see if the Forums had last minute wisdom for me. Boy did they. Craig I've always loved your Asia reports and have used your tips many times for our trips there. So when I saw your name of course I decided to read. Wow I sure am glad I did!
Somehow in all my meticulous trip planning I had managed to overlook the requirement for the ETA visa! I had been thinking all along "it's like Europe" where you don't have to do anything in advance. Thank goodness you included your sentence about the ETA or we would have shown up like idiots at the airport without it. So I just applied and the confirmation email arrived instantly and says "your application has been successful and you have a valid ETA."
Whew! Thank you!!!

It has been a while since I checked back with this thread. Glad I was able to "save" you bniemand with the ETA advice. I knew that it was important to mention as it is not obvious.
