Cars Rental s- Brisbane

Could anyone give me the names of car rental companies at Brisbane airport that offer reasonable rates for hire of a car to use on the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane? Could we just pick up a car at the airport the day we arrive? What would an intermediate car like a Toyota Camry rent for in Australian dollars? Thanks .

Hertz Avis and probably Budget will be at the airport and I should think that you could just pick on up on arrival. I don't know what a Camry is like but depending on how long you are renting it for I would think it should cost about $80AU per day

Marina,
I think Thrifty and National may also be there. Do a search on the web for prices before you arrive. We found Avis quite good when we hired in Queensland last year.
You should be able to just get a car when you arrive, if one hire car company can't help you, another will.
Kay

We rented a car in Brisbane and one in Townsville when we went to Australia in August. We booked from here (Canada) on the internet. After alot of research we found booking on the net we got a much better deal. The cost was approximately $35.00 a day Australian with unlimited mileage. We used National (we are members of their "frequent driving program"). The car we booked was a Camry and was a good size for a family of four.

Marina,

The website is www.nationalcar.com

Good luck. By the way Aussies drive on the left and use alot of roundabouts. It took about a day to get use to it. The roundabouts caused me alot of worry in the beginning but by the end of the vacation I thought they were great. If you are driving in the country keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos. They come out at dusk and we saw many dead ones on the side of the road (a sad sights).
