For activities in Perth, a walking tour of the CBD is a great way to get a feel for the city and its history. There is a free one from an information kiosk in the CBD. The museum is also well worth a visit, as is KIng's park, although it might be pretty hot in February. Getting around is not too difficult. For a cooler outing, take the ferry to the zoo. It's shady and beautifully laid out. Kangaroo sightings guaranteed! The Margaret River area, where we stay with our daughter and family, is quite lovely and not as hot as Perth. Take a tour--I wouldn't recommend a jet-lagged, North American driving on the 'wrong' side on narrow winding roads. But if you do drive, watch out for kangaroos and roundabouts. For something a bit different, there is an Indian restaurant upstairs near the bell tower which provides vegetarian meals on a 'pay what you can' basis.
