Best place to rent car in Melbourne and Tasmania

Looking for recommendations on an agency to rent a car in Melbourne. We're interested in at least a car that seats 2 adults and 2 children in the back, and possibly a larger van style that seats 4 adults and the 2 children (in car seats).
We may also want to rent a car for a week in Tasmania.
Thanks
Sue

Avis, Hertz, Europecar, Thrifty are all in Melbourne and you can take your car to Tassie on the Spirit of Tasmania

I found this under Hertz's driving restrictions:

Cars cannot be driven into or out of Tasmania.

I don't think they're the only one with this restriction.

Thanks
We want to fly to Tasmania, so that's why we rent a car there separately from Melbourne.

I always use the website - www.driveaway.com.au - they cover all the companies and their rates are good. But best of all it seems that the price quoted is the price you pay - no hidden extras when time comes to pick the car up. I've used them for cars in France, USA, Australia, New Zealand etc and have never had a problem.

James2cars - if you are going to exhume a 6 year old thread to flout the "no self-promotion" rule, you might at least have the wit & imagination to invent a less obvious name for yourself.
