Hey Ken
I also got a good laugh from your description of the lizard incident and a couple of other chuckles too - very well done!
I'd like to know how long it took you to wander from the hotel (I'm assuming this is the Travelodge on Wentworth?) to the Aquarium and also the walk back from Darling Harbour via Hyde Park. I will be staying there in March 2009 and this will be a first. So I have no idea of time and distance there. Thanks Richard - [email protected]

Hey Richard,
Sorry for the delay in responding. The walk from the Travelodge to Darling Harbour is not far at all. I would estimate about a mile or so. There's also a monorail you can take. It's a little bit further to Sydney Harbor (maybe 3+ miles), but you can walk right through Hyde Park and then through the Botanical Gardens, which I highly recommend. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I think 3 miles is a generous estimate, ken. An admittedly rough stab on my part, but Wentworth Avenue to Circular Quay looks like about 2 km (1.2 miles) as the crow flies, or by the more conventional shanks's pony a walk of less than 3 km (less than 2 miles).

Your probably right. Now that I think about it, we walked from Circular Quay around the Botanical Garden, past Mrs. MacQuarie's chair lookout, and then back up through Hyde Park. It would have been a lot shorter had we walked straight back from Circular.
